A new 77-page Texas House report confirms what we already saw with our own eyes: The police response to the mass shooting in Uvalde was rife with “systemic failures and egregious poor decision-making.”

There were almost 400 police officers on the scene. Many of them were heavily armed and could have stopped the shooter within minutes, but instead they waited for nearly two hours. We can’t bring back the lives of the 19 children and 2 teachers who police allowed to be slaughtered, but we can demand accountability so that it never happens again.
